The 30th Tour de France of art will travel through Le Mans (Armelle Le Dantec), Paris region and especially Puteaux (Suzanne Lopez), the Finistère department (Odette Picaud), will spend some time in Alsace with porte renaud (Mulhouse) and Marie-Haude Steyert (Strasbourg), the Hérault department (Marc Souque) and our department with Nadine Monnin (Vendeuvre-sur-Barse).
In the kaleidoscopic image of today’s art and artists in France that we have seen all over the five Arrivage successive exhibition years, let’s focus on porte renaud. And not only because he represents the particular installation style.
His curriculum gives us an idea of today artists’ outlines: mobile on a geographic basis, using a very conceptual expression, dramatically ahead on current communication medium (have a look at his website).
Porte renaud was born in Amiens in 1987 and, after a year of Egyptology studies, he divided his artistic studies: Cherbourg-Octeville, then Chalon-sur-Saône, finally Limoges where he obtained his Diplôme national d’arts plastiques (national diploma for plastic arts). Even if he settled in Mulhouse, he completed his curriculum in Montpellier – by e-learning – with a research master in art sciences. porte renaud has an original point of view since he considers that the very first creation is the artists themselves. Every single individual is a unique creation and every artist should be an original self-creation. As regards the lifestyle of the new artist, it involves moving. In another city every two or three years, depending on the occasion, desire and context. Today in Mulhouse, tomorrow somewhere else.
